Incorporated in 1958 as a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization, the mission of Earthplace is to to build a passion in our community for nature and the environment through education, experience and action. We work to fulfill this mission by conserving 90+ acres of open space, educating children, families and adults about the nature world and our place in it. Earthplace has an NAEYC accredited Nursery School, state licensed summer camp, and provides water quality monitoring in Fairfield County through our Harbor Watch program.

Did you know that in the past year?

  • Over 5,000 people have attended field trips, scout programs, adult and other environmental programs;
  • Over 100 volunteers have donated more than 1,000 hours supporting the mission of Earthplace;
  • Our nature-based summer Camp served nearly 700 children, ages through through 15, from Fairfield County;
  • The Harbor Watch program discovered six major storm drainage issues in the City of Norwalk which accounted for thousands of gallons of raw sewage draining into the waters of Norwalk Harbor and Long Island Sound.  Harbor Watch worked with the City of Norwalk to have the sewer pipes replaced.
