Click on a picture to enlarge it. On a warm spring day, visitors enjoyed toasting marshmallows and learning about maple syrup. Senior naturalist Margaret Ardwin and her father have been tapping sugar maple trees and boiling the sap to make maple syrup for many years. Margaret brought her equipment and demonstrated how farmers determine the proper size tree to tap, what equipment they use and the process for turning watery sap into sugar. Everyone was eager to see a tree get drilled for a tap, as well as to taste some sap freshly dripping from a sugar maple tree.
