The Connecticut Birds of Prey living
animal collection at Earthplace includes two American bald eagles, Chatty
and Cerena. A fun, informative event was held in their honor and to
educate people about these magnificent birds of prey.
Guest naturalist Matt Hoyt was on hand to
answer visitor questions about Chatty, the mature bald eagle, and Cerena,
the young bald eagle. There were eagle crafts, natural history
displays and bird and eagle games. Senior naturalist Margaret Ardwin
led a walk on the Earthplace trails to discuss the kind of birds found in
local habitats and their nesting and feeding activities, particularly in
winter.
