Campout for the Critters September 11, 2004 |

Twenty-five families enjoyed a beautiful evening campout in support of the wildlife rehabilitation program at Earthplace. The tents were set up in the main lawn under a clear, mild late-summer sky. All the children decorated their Earthplace t-shirt with a glow-in-the-dark moon and night insects. Everyone got to learn about and meet some of the Earthplace animals, including Lakota and Annabel the ferrets, Barney the python, Frizzle the rabbit, and ET the turkey vulture. A walk on the Universal Design Trail was an opportunity to look for insects at dusk. Earthplace staff and volunteers donated and cooked a BBQ supper of hamburgers and hot dogs. The Amazing Andy entertained the crowd with his funny jokes and great magic tricks. At evening's end, everyone gathered around the campfire to make s'mores before heading off to bed in their own tents.
