Eagle Celebration February 8, 2003 |

Earthplace officially welcomed Kish, a bald eagle, into the Connecticut Birds of Prey. Kish, a ten-year-old male Bald Eagle from Wisconsin, suffered a permanent disability as a young bird when he flew into a power line. He was brought to Wind Over Winds in Clinton, CT, run by Hope Douglas. It was decided that he should be placed in a public facility where he can get the attention he seems to enjoy. Visitors created their own beaks and feathers, compared the weight of a bald eagle to other birds, and learned about an eagle's feathers, food and history. Jerry Kuyper, local nature artist, helped visitors create a 10 foot "eagle nest" for all to enjoy.
